54 high school students from different regions of the country were awarded in this challenge organized by the Venezuelan Association of Mathematical Competences and which Empresas Polar foundation has been supporting for 10 years to canalize the scientific talent of young Venezuelans.
Around 32 thousand students of secondary and diversified education from public and private institutions from all over the country, participated in the 14th edition of the Youth Mathematics Olympiad, an event that has been organized by the Venezuelan Association of Mathematical Competences with the support of Fundación de Empresas Polar since 10 years ago.
“These young people who participated are clear evidence of all the scientific and academic talent that Venezuela has. The simple fact of doing so makes them winners, “said Laura Díaz, manager of Institutional Programs of the foundation, who commented that despite the difficult times his mother company is going through the commitment with the organizers of the activity was maintained “With the firm conviction of promoting these young people with an inclination toward this basic science, and so sensitize them to appreciation for research and scientific development. “
Díaz points out that the contribution of the institution he represents makes it possible to carry out this program in all corners of the country, sponsoring the registration of students and producing promotional material for awareness and disclosure of the Olympiad.
The initiative has two editions: the Youth Mathematical Olympiad, in which high school students enroll, and the Recreational, directed to students from third to sixth grade. In the first, 54 students were awarded from a total of 103 finalists who won the regional competitions: 10 students won gold, 16 silver and 28 bronze medals, plus a special mention for the Best Final Test.
Both modalities are part of the portfolio of educational activities offered by Empresas Polar Foundation to the communities of the country.
